Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
1. Information We Collect
We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use Do Not Stop Writing or the dropdata P2P file sharing utility.
Writing Tool: The writing tool runs entirely in your browser. Any written content (your text drafts, goals, progress states) is stored only in-memory and is never transmitted to our servers or stored in any database. The moment you leave the page or refresh your browser, your writing session is deleted forever.
dropdata File Sharing: The dropdata tool transfers files directly between browsers using secure, serverless peer-to-peer WebRTC connections. No files are uploaded to our servers, cached online, or stored in any database. File sharing history is kept temporarily in your active browser session memory to display your transfer logs (which you can optionally download), and it is completely erased when you close or refresh the tab.
We use browser local storage (`localStorage`) strictly to save your user preferences locally, specifically:
Theme selection (light or dark mode preference)
2. Cookies
We do not use cookie identifiers, tracking beacons, or third-party marketing pixels to analyze your behavior or serve targeted advertisements. The application is cookie-free.
3. Third-Party Services
We do not sell, trade, or share any personal data with third-party service providers. In the event we use hosting services or static analytics, no identifiable text drafts or user-specific data is ever shared.
WebRTC Connection Signaling: The dropdata file sharing service uses PeerJS cloud infrastructure to establish the initial handshake/connection between browser tabs. No file contents or metadata are shared with or stored on PeerJS servers; they only facilitate the direct connection, after which all data moves directly between the two browser clients.
4. Data Retention
Since Do Not Stop Writing and dropdata run entirely client-side, we do not store or retain your drafts, shared files, or connection logs. Any data entered into a writing session or transferred during a file sharing session exists only in active memory. Once a tab is closed, refreshed, or a session ends, all associated data is permanently erased and cannot be recovered.
5. Children's Privacy
Do Not Stop Writing is not designed for or targeted to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect, store, or solicit personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
6. Your Rights
Because we do not collect identifiable personal data, there is typically nothing for us to retrieve, correct, or delete on your behalf. If you have concerns, please contact us and we will respond promptly.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, rectify, or erase any personal data we hold, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
